After finishing my Art Foundation Course at Winchester School of Art, I attended Chelsea College of Art & Design, London, where I specialised in printed textiles (BA Hons). It was during this time that my fascination for painting flora grew. I loved the colour, textures and shapes which so beautifully translated into design.
I decided to pursue my passion for painting by attending the Royal College of Art, London, to complete a Master of Arts Degree in Natural History Illustration. It was here that I found my style of mixing detailed, observational painting with a designer’s approach of cutting and layering my art so the layout could change and evolve unlike traditional botanical paintings.
After a series of freelance textile projects I moved to New York City to work as a home textile designer for DKNY and then specialising as the Embellishment designer for Ann Taylor. Whilst working in New York my love for flora often influenced my approach to designing. These experiences abroad where invaluable, working alongside extremely talented people and learning a host of skills.
After six years I returned to the UK and got married, raising two boys alongside creating commissions and design swatches for fashion and interiors. over the last two years I have been enjoying sharing my love of floral painting with others through my watercolour workshops.
